Since childhood, Charlotte has had a strong bond with nature.
Visits to her parent's country properties and her grandparent's
farm have deeply engrained in Charlotte: passion, amazement
and respect for the land and its bounty. As Charlotte helped
her grandmother in her massive country garden or rode horseback
with her father, she grew more aware of the vagaries of nature
and of our responsibility for its stewardship. The earth serves
up incredible beauty, although at times it is a very harsh beauty.
Living on the west coast has been an enriching experience for
Charlotte and has provided her with great inspiration. As one
travels from the rhythmic ocean, to the rugged rock formations,
to the valleys and meadows further east, one is grateful to
live in such an invigorating region. Charlotte's paintings reflect
the magnificent colours, forms and patterns that she sees in
the natural world, as well as in her imagination.
